Through him I'm learning what it means
to savour every moment
with eyes observant
ears alert
to nature's sounds and sights.
Each day he takes me for long walks
along the path and through the woods
down to the lake as blue as the sky
Then back home again
with a heavy sigh
where he patiently waits to catch my eye
so we can go walking again.
